Now Is The Time
June 1st, 2020

This past week has been full of big feelings. We have been rocked seeing the loss of yet again another black brother.
I recently did a walk for Ahmaud Arbery, and even then, I was floored that we are STILL experiencing this as a society. The level of cruelty we inflict upon one another is astounding! What can you do to make a change? For each person, this question is going to be answered differently. As a family, we are having conversations with our children about racism, equality, and the overall history of their ancestors. With our friends, we are scheduling zoom calls to process our feeling and an in-depth conversation about black lives.
Although there is a current debate on the verbiage of the phrase black lives matter, I implore you to have harder discussions. Why were these words put together in the first place? What behaviors caused these three words to be put together, and what can be done to eliminate there need?
Healing begins with the willingness to have hard conversations within your community. Are you willing to make yourself uncomfortable to make a difference for the betterment of those in your community? What about for the world your children will be adults in?
Maybe you need to reevaluate some of your thoughts, ways of speaking, or perhaps your upbringing. It’s time to do the work, and it begins with you!
We are praying for the safety of all and for the families of those that are suffering.
